Reading Qimen Dunjia charts:
Like most Chinese Metaphysics subjects can overwhelm you at first, especially when seeing these charts for the first time. Reading a Qimen Dunjia chart can be confusing and complicated. You have to know where to start when thinking about how to read a Qimen chart, so understanding the chart’s composition is the first vital step to take.
Though the chart looks 2D, imagine various charts stacked on each other for better understanding. The Later Heaven Ba Gua plate layers the 3x3 cosmic board within nine segments. A QMDJ chart is plotted using your local time. There is no need for time conversion in Qimen forecasting or divination.
What are the main components of a QMDJ chart:
This can be a bit technical information, so breathe and continue to read. I will do my best to make it simple and easy for you.
- The Qi Men Deities plate: in this part, you will discover the 8 different gods or QiMen Deities used in Qi Men Dun Jia. Remember, there are 10 Qimen deities, but you only see 8 on the chart.
- The Heaven plate: in this part, you will discover 9 Heavenly stars derived from the 100+ stars of Zi Wei Dou Shu.
- The Man or Human plate: There are 8 Gates/Doors, also known as Ba Men. Ba means eight, and Men here means door. These Qimen doors symbolize human activities.
- The Heavenly Stems Earth and Heaven plate. These two plates consist of nine out of the 10 heavenly stems placed around these plates. This is because in QMDJ, the heavenly stem Jia is hidden.
- The fixed base plate is based on the Later Heaven Ba Gua and depicts the 9 palaces of the Qimen Dunjia chart. This also has the 8 trigrams and the 12 Earthly Branches.
- The Palace Structure: shows each 3x3 grid box having a unique setup formed by Heaven, Earth, Man, Heavenly Stems, and Ba Gua base, representing internal and external palaces. Each sector has two Heavenly Stems, one resting on the other.
- The External Structure: uses Bazi Four Pillars to generate Qi Men Dun Jia day and hour charts. It's a standalone time-keeping and forecasting technique. Based on Ba Zi pillars, identify the “Asker and Outcome” on the QMDJ hour chart.
The structure of the Stars, Doors, Gods, and Heavenly Stem create symbols of something, with different combinations, seasons, and positions making different meanings.
Are there any rules for Qi Men Dun Jia Divination?
Yes. The ancient Chinese sages laid down three divination rules for using the divination modalities. These are:
- No movement, don’t divine.
- Nothing surprising, don’t divine, and
- Don’t ask, don’t divine.
Let me explain what these three rules actually me. No movement means if you do not see a change in a situation, there is no reason for you to plot another chart and keep looking for an answer you wish.
Qimen Dunjia chart is always a neutral chart. It does not take sides, reveals the truth of a situation, and shows the outcome based on timing. A feeling of surprise affects human emotion and intuition. When you have that gut feeling that something is happening, then plot a QMDJ chart to get the guidance, and if there is no surprise element or intuition or heightened sixth sense, do not use Qimen.
The last rule of divination here means if no one has asked you a question that requires the use of Qimen divination, then you should not plot the QMDJ chart. In other words, when someone asks a question, only then plot the Qimen chart.
What are the steps for QiMen Dunjia divination:
Before you can actually read the QMDJ chart, follow these steps:
- Have a straightforward question ready in your mind: The question must be a yes or no question or an outcome-based question. It should not be an open-ended question. Remember, Qi Men honors your free will choices and is impartial. It shows the truth and reality, forecasting based on actions, determination, and desire. Then shows the outcomes.
- Look for markers to plot the QiMen Hour Chart: The most accurate chart is connected with your energy, the energy of your question, and the Universal identification, the right time of the Qi Men chart that will reveal the precise information.
- Hold the question in your mind or paper and plot the Qi Men Chart where you wrote your inquiry.
- Do not doubt the chart or replot it.
- Interpret the chart carefully, even if the outcome is not what you anticipate or desire.
- Based on the analysis, decide what action you should take to achieve the best result.
How to read the Qimen Dun Jia chart in 5 simple steps:
